Koleda week!
The celebrations are "from the star til the water" — starting at Orthodox Christmas Eve and ending at Baptism of Christ. In slavic folk culture it's the time of kolyadki — caroling deeply rooted in pre-christian traditions, where young people hide their faces, bring cheer and songs and at times get quite rowdy.
This transition period is also the main week for any form of fortune telling — from cards and candles to asking your household demons for advice. All in good fun to be later forgiven at the church service.
